World's 50 Best Restaurants?
A brief sampling of the best:
Has anyone out there tried any of these restaurants? And are there any you think are missing that haven't been included? However, the same guy owns both that and Per Se, which I think makes for a poor editorial decision on the list. Posted by: Michael at October 18, 2005 8:36 AM Sorry, I can't take any "great restaurants" list seriously if it doesn't include the Ruby Tuesday's at Van Ness & Wisconsin. Posted by: Jake at October 18, 2005 9:34 AM I went to Chez Panisse and my experience was the same experience I had at Nora. Eh. I know the concept is totally about fresh food that simply prepared, but that isn't translating into flavor for me. One great thing aobut Chez Panisse is the access you get to the kitchen. You can totally just wander in and talk with the chefs. Posted by: tcd at October 18, 2005 9:39 AM Yeah, I think I find it a bit suspect that nowhere in the world besides France, England, Australia, and the US has any concept of cuisine. And maybe 4 Posted by: zaf at October 18, 2005 9:47 AM I find it dubious that resturants like 'Nobu' and other Japanese resturants are better in English speaking countries and France then they are in Japan. Not ONE resturant in Tokyo, the red headed stepchild of the so called 'World Cities'? This list is bunk, and perpetuates eurocentricism. Sounds to me like these pollsters only had French or Spanish offered at their respective secondary schools. Posted by: travis at October 19, 2005 12:34 AM Post a comment |
