IMG_1208_edited.JPGStraight from Graceland, where we watched our money disappear quicker than a peanut butter and banana sandwich in front of fat Elvis, we fought the Tennessee Interstate system and headed back into town for the sole purpose of experiencing good Memphis BBQ. Although after Interstate BBQ, even Capitol Q BBQ would probably be a step up.

It’s easy to get up early in the morning when you’re in a city that doesn’t offer much to do at night. Due to this, we were at Graceland by 9:30. Neither of us are huge Elvis freaks, but you…

  • Wow… wish you had posted the potential Memphis visit on DCFUD before you left… we have so many great bbq places that serve amazing food, great prices and could care less about selling over the Internet (both Interstate and Rendevous do)…
    in the future consider:
    Cozy Corner on North Parkway
    Central BBQ on Central
    The BBQ Shop on Madison
    Neelys BBQ
Sorry you didn’t have a truely great Memphis experience…

  • Wow! I’ve never heard such. As a former Memphian now stuck in Atlanta, the land of Sonny’s barbaque if you can call it barbaque, this is suprising. The Rendezvous has the best BBQ around, servered just the way it has been since the doors opened in 1948. The waiters are usually long timers and are terrific. The restuarant hasn’t changed since I begain going in the early 70s (with the exception of the addition upstairs) and neither have the ribs. So I don’t think “going tourist” is accurate. Next time your passing through, get your facts straight. Tourists get there because of local’s recommedations! What better references can I give? As for your subscribers, don’t let this review stop you from experiencing the Rendezvous’ atmosphere or ribs. They are the best anywhere. Why do you think they do so well selling them to folks over the internet? As for the tea. No one goes to the Rendezvous for the tea. Look around. Most folks are drinking Coke and Beer with their ribs!
