1. Flavor Rack (flavor profile enhancers on hand) Goya Adobo – should be a staple in every household. It’s like a best-kept secret by the Hispanic community. You’ll be shocked at how many 5-star restaurants use this. Great to cook with all year round. McCormick’s Montreal Steak Seasoning – an incredible seasoning for meats but also as a flavor enhancer for vegetables, produce and try it on your next salad. Old Bay – it will enhance the flavor of any fish dish.
2. Cream Sherry – creates the perfect flavor profile for any cream-based sauce or even soups.
3. Uncle Ben’s Ready Rice – anytime your meal calls for rice as a component – don’t stress – simply tear the bag and microwave for 90 seconds. How easy is that? You can’t screw it up if you tried. Available in many different flavors.
4. The Right Tools – Set up the right tools before you begin – this will make the job easier – and keep your spouse happy because you’re not running around opening cabinets and slamming drawers. Spatulas Tongs Wooden spoons Scissors – kitchen shears Sharp knife Cutting board.
5. Pre-minced garlic – Real men never mince garlic! Why? Because we’re smart enough to buy it already done! And who wants to smell like garlic? Spice World® squeezable is best.
6. Pre-diced onions – I have enough drama in my life – I don’t need to cry over onions! I buy them in the frozen foods department already done, and they don’t go bad.
7. Pre-chopped and pre-sliced produce – mushrooms, squash, zucchini, peppers, stir-fry package. This saves you time – and FINGERS!
8. Use jarred sauce (ex: Classico® Alfredo or Marinara) as a shortcut but always create your own base consisting of: Oil, Garlic and Onions.
9. Fear Factor – Do not be afraid or intimidated by anyone or anything when shopping. They actually have signs over the aisles to show you where to go. Stay focused and purchase only what you’re looking for.
10. Use pre-seasoned line extensions like diced or chopped tomatoes when the recipes call for it. Ex: Fire-Roasted Tomatoes, maybe seasoned with Jalapenos, or seasoned with Basil & Garlic, the choices are endless.
11. Make friends with the local butcher whether he’s down the street or in the back of the supermarket. He’ll always bail you out! Meaning he’ll get you the cut you need whether it’s thin chicken cutlets or a nice thick steak – even if it’s from his own personal stash.
