You can pick up kimchee at the by-the-pound buffet at the Soho on M between 15th and 16th, if you just want a few bites. It’s on the salad bar in the back.
Making your own is easy, fun and delicious, but you need to let it sit for a while before you can eat it, and I’ve never been able to get the seasoning quite right. I’d say google a recipe.
Of course, if it’s Korean food you’re after, the best place in the metro area is in Pentagon City at Woo Lae Oak.
