Launched in 2004, DCFüd is an Online Magazine devoted to the food and food lovers of the Washington, DC area.
Editor/Gastronaut-In-Chief:
Jason (JAY)
Jason (Editor-in-Chief of DCFüd) is a food writer and editor. He is originally from the most culturally diverse county in the U.S., where he grew up eating a variety of cuisines and learned how to cook at his mom’s side as a kid. He specializes in writing about ethnic foods, bargains, and events. He has judged the Washington DC Lamb Jam (restaurant/chef competition) several times and competed in a beef grilling contest at a local wine festival (came in 2nd). Update: Jason was one of the judges of the 2019 Maryland Oyster Festival.
A drink was named after him – the “flaming foodgeek” – habaneros, honey, triple sec, orange juice, vodka…and a prayer. 😉
Honorary Gastronauts:
Cindy (CAF)
Ok, Cindy isn’t her real name; she guards her identity jealously and doesn’t write her own bios. She drinks a lot of coffee and doesn’t eat five of the following six things: chocolate, tomatoes, pork, mushrooms and sneakers. (Yeah…quick math.)
Michael (MAW)
Michael is a DC native who picks his produce by smell as opposed to
look or feel, leading to much tastier dishes and also confused looks
from other customers. He started cooking at a young age, having
discovered that the easiest way to get what he wanted for dinner was
to cook it himself. Never shy about trying new things or making a
mess, 10-year-old Michael’s curried mac & cheese was fantastic; his
curried chicken Parmesan not so much.
He took a one-day lesson in being a restaurant critic from the
Washington Post’s Phyllis Richman in the 9th grade, and decided
that it sounded like a fun thing to do once in a while. Years later, he
joined the original lineup of DCFüd and has been doing it once in a
while ever since.
Watch Michael’s NBC4 Feature.
Ray (RAY)
Ray (The 5 Paragraph Bitter Food Critic) hasn’t submitted a bio, but you can check his other blog out.
